Crown Jobs
Many poor shooting barrels can be traced to problems with the crown. The crown should be absolutely perpendicular to the bore. When the bullet leaves the bore, gas is released at very high pressure all the way around the bullet's base. If the crown were uneven, gas would release on one side first and this tends to disturb the bullet just as it sent on it's way downrange. Obviously this will show up as poor accuracy. Try this inexpensive service before you abandon a barrel that seems to be poor shooting. I use a specially ground high relief angle tool that only gets used for crowns and it gets re-sharpened often. The tool is pulled straight out from the bore so that no burrs are created at the end of the bore. The bore-crown junction will be flat, with a radius about half way out on the crown face. This creates a slightly recessed crown job. The crown face will be left unfinished. Picture
Barrel Crown Job $70

Shorten Barrel and Crown
This service includes shortening the barrel to any length you specify and re-cutting the crown. The muzzle face will be left unfinished.
Barrel Shorten and Crown $85

Barrel Threading
This is the most commonly requested service. The barrel gets mounted in the lathe with a live center in the muzzle. The muzzle gets turned down to the required size and then threads are cut with a single point tool. This ensures that the threads will be perfectly concentric and parallel to the bore. After the threads are done and deburred, a new crown is cut to eliminate the damage caused by the live center. Other shops would consider this a 'precision' threading job. I do 1/2-28 or 5/8-24 threads as standard. For other thread specifications, select the "precision threading" option and specify the threads in the comments box of the order form. The threaded area will be left unfinished. Picture
Barrel Threading $95

Shorten Barrel and Thread Muzzle
This service includes shortening the barrel to any length you specify and normal threading to 1/2-28 or 5/8-24 and re-cutting the crown. Machined areas will be left unfinished.

Rechambering
I can rechamber almost any single shot barrel to a longer or larger chambering. I setup the barrel so that is is running less than 0.0005" total runout to the bore. I use a boring bar to remove most of the old chamber to ensure that the new chamber will be properly aligned to the bore. I believe that best accuracy is attained when the bullet is properly centered in the throat while it is engraving the lands. I only use machining methods proven to obtain properly centered throats and chambers. See my reamer list for available chamberings. If you would like a reamer that is not available, I can usually get a reamer for your job. Custom tooling will be quoted on a per-job basis.

Service Options

Compensator Indexing $30
The typical method to index a muzzle device to the barrel involves the use of peel washers or crush washers. Neither method leaves a nicely finished look. Also, many rimfire barrels are made from softer steel than common centerfire barrels. These softer barrel steels can not tolerate the tension required to use a crush washer. When the steel can not handle the tension, the barrel will stretch, damaging the bore. I only recommend indexing muzzle devices on rimfire barrels with shims, or via machining. Select this option and I will index your muzzle device to your barrel barrel by facing off the rear of the muzzle device, or by facing off the barrel's shoulder if the barrel will already be in the lathe for other operations. You must include your muzzle device with the barrel in order to use this service.

Barrel Band Journal $50
This service is to turn a journal or band on your barrel down to any diameter you specify. This is typically needed when you want to mount a clamp-on front sight or accessory. It may also be required for some suppressor mounts such as Surefire or OPS Inc. Machined areas will be left unfinished.

Precision Threading Upgrade $30
This is a more specialized threading option required when the typical threading services above will not handle the job. I can turn any of the common thread sizes such as 1/2-28, 9/16-24 or 5/8-24 to a specified pitch diameter. If you are mounting a sound suppressor, the manufacturer will usually specify a pitch diameter or mating thread class fit. I can also turn any other thread size you could ever need as long as I have a mating part or a similarly threaded part to measure. If you include the mating muzzle device and ask for a lapped fit in the comments box, the threads will be lapped together for the tightest precision fit possible. The threaded area will be left unfinished.

Permanently Attach Steel Muzzle Device $60
Permanently Attach Aluminum or Titanium Muzzle Device $90
These services includes drilling through the installed muzzle device and into the barrel, installing a blind pin, welding over the end of the pin. This does not include barrel threading. This is required to convert a barrel shorter than 16" into a legal 16"+ barrel length. Welds will be finished with oil to protect from rust. Picture

Drill/Tap Barrel for Sight $70
This service is to drill and tap the barrel for a front or rear sight that attaches with screws. The most common threads used for sights or sight bases are 6-48. I can accomodate most other commonly found thread sizes as well. The barrel will be setup in the milling machine and the holes will be located on the centerline of the barrel. The sight screws will be installed using blue loctite. This service is for (1) front or rear sight only. If you need both front and rear sights installed, you will need to select this service two times. You must include the sights and screws with your barrel to use this option.

Cut Barrel for Sight Dovetail $90
This service is to mill (1) sight dovetail for sights that drift into a dovetail cut on the barrel. The barrel will be setup in the milling machine and the dovetail will be located on the top of the barrel. The sight will be installed into the dovetail. This service is for (1) front or rear sight only. If you need both front and rear sights installed, you will need to select this service two times. You must include the sight with your barrel to use this option.
